Last night the DJ saved my campaign

Filed under: Uncategorized — Brett @ 1:24 am

Having viewed both campaign parties run for the U.S. presidency for months now, it is evident that song selection is instrumental in how the candidates attempt to relate to their potential voters. A top ten list recently published by CBS shows that McCain and Obama have somewhat divergent musical tastes. While they may not agree on whether or not Merle Haggard or The Fugees deserve top ten spots, they do agree that Frank Sinatra is worthy of their ranking.

We now know the musicians our candidates support, what are some musicians that fully endorse our candidates?

I have yet to discover a mix by a DJ endorsing McCain, but for those of you that are looking for some pump up tunes for Obama, please check out this mix by Z-Trip. I know if I were running for president, I wouldn’t mind having the support of artists like Shepard Fairey and Z-Trip on my team.

Biking and driving better

Filed under: Uncategorized, coworking, design, humor, northwest, portland, seattle, sports — Brett @ 11:29 pm

Just before a flood of clashes between bikers emerged from across the country this summer, I wrote this post on the observed tension. After reading numerous news stories and widely-discussed blog entries I’ve found that an interesting and heated debate has formed. While the press would like to cover this tension as a ‘war’ between two and four wheelers, I feel this is a gross oversimplification.

Run Simon Run

Filed under: Uncategorized — Brett @ 11:59 pm

The past couple of weeks have been an exciting time for us here. We have met with many inspiring people and innovative minds. We are enthusiastically proud to bring on board two new members to The GC: Simon Isaacs and Paige Beckley.

These two will be working together on both experiential marketing and international development projects geared towards philanthropy and NGO’s. Already Simon has worked on an impressive array of projects worldwide and has recently moved back from Rwanda where he was working for the Clinton Foundation.

On his way out the door to a red eye flight to Hotlanta after only spending eight hours here he graciously handed me an epic coffee table book that covered his other recent quest running around the world.

It makes me wonder what the next book gifted to The GC will be. It’s hard to top this.

One Google search brought up his story. Here’s the first hit:

Bigger, Badder, Tiny’er

Filed under: Uncategorized, northwest, philanthropy, photography, seattle — Brett @ 10:20 pm

For those of you who didn’t get a chance to check out the Tiny Toones fundraiser we had here a few weeks ago, I highly suggest you check out the BIGGER show for them this weekend. I hope to see you all out there. This event is slated to be a much bigger production. I can’t wait for the highly anticipated performances by One Be Lo and Ohmega Watts. We hope to see you all down in Renton!
